RS is a 55-year old man who was diagnosed with melanoma in Jan 1998. He went for a routine skin cancer screening since he had a history of being a lifeguard and was concerned about the excessive sun exposure. RS has noticed a mole the size of a pea in diameter on his left thigh. The dermatologist performed a biopsy on the lesion. He stated that he already knew it was melanoma and RS should not wait for the report to schedule an appointment with an oncologist. He was insistent that RS see the oncologist immediately. RS left the office and decided to research alternative treatment for melanoma on his own. Within one week he found information about Poly-MVA and immediately started taking it. He quickly increased the dose to 8 teaspoons per day. When the biopsy report came back positive, the doctor tried to get in touch with RS many times to make sure he had seen an oncologist. RS did not return the calls and refused to pursue conventional treatment. The diameter of the lesion started to reduce within 3 months of taking Poly-MVA. It consistently reduced over the course of 9 months. By the 9th month of taking Poly-MVA the lesion was almost completely gone. It had reduced to the size of a small freckle and looked normal. RS went back to the dermatologist who was upset that he hadn’t returned the calls. While examining RS, the physician was shocked that he could no longer find the lesion. He thought his nurse had given him the wrong chart. RS explained that he had taken Poly-MVA. The dermatologist did not believe him and thought he went to a plastic surgeon to have it removed. He simply did not believe that Poly-MVA could have resulted in a complete disappearance of the melanoma. The dermatologist then looked for any scarring that may have occurred even with plastic surgery and could find none. He was truly dumfounded that all he could see was a tiny freckle. RS stayed on 8 tsp/day for one year and then reduced it by 2 tsp every 6 months and remains on 2 tsp/day. The spot has not changed for 9 years and he has been back for skin cancer evaluations. He remains cancer free.
