        History

Dr. Albert C. Sanchez Sr., FACR Founder, began pondering and inquiring about more effective and less toxic cancer treatments after losing his beautiful, 32-year-old wife, Julia, to colon cancer on July 20, 1972. Left with four small children to raise, Dr. Sanchez then dedicated himself, and continues to commit, to helping others afflicted with this disease, searching for effectual cancer treatments and products and disseminating information about them to the public. Years later, he would be hit yet again with the loss of a loved one, his eldest daughter, Tina, further strengthening his resolve to find an answer and provide hope so that others would not have to suffer. The Foundation for Advancement in Cancer Research was established in December of 2003 as a non-profit organization. Our mission is first to directly support and help people suffering from cancer, as well as their families; secondly, we fund ongoing efforts to support research into alternative and complimentary cancer treatment modalities.

Dr. Sanchez’s ongoing efforts in the face of many trials and tribulations have made him a hero to many. At the age of 74 he does all he can every day to ensure that no one else has to suffer the way he did when he lost his wife and daughter. He always says that if all his efforts only help one person then it is one person less that has to suffer from this disease in any way. To his credit, he has directly and indirectly helped thousands, and if given the opportunity at his age to fully realize his dream it would be to see the people and nations of this world find a way to better control the hundreds of thousands of people every year that are losing their lives to this disease.

Unfortunately, little has changed in 30 years toward finding more effective treatments. It breaks Dr. Sanchez’s heart that the disease we know as cancer has become so accepted in our modern world and that more people are not outraged that every day 1,700 people die from a disease that should have a better survival rate after so many years of modern medicine and research. Currently, the only reason for improvement in cancer statistics has been due to early detection, not better treatments. Almost 1 in every 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime and sadly most people just simply accept this as their fate, when so much could be done if we can come together and look for a better solution to a horrendous problem.
